Five-O At The Dirty O: Raise Money For Special Olympics

Police from around the state are racing in the third annual event, meant to boost donations for Special Olympics Illinois.

JOLIET, IL — The Five-O at the Dirty O for Special Olympics event is coming back. The third annual event, which raises money for Special Olympics Illinois, is coming Saturday.

Cops from around the state will race in the derby for the title of Fastest Cop in Town.

"I will race the car but I need you to support my efforts by making a donation to Special Olympics Illinois," said Lindsey Heavener of the Joliet Police Department.

"Each donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs and reveal their inner champion," Heavener said on her donation page.

So far, they've raised nearly $150,000 for Special Olympics Illinois. As of publishing time, Heavener has raised $34,999, well surpassing her $30,000 goal.

The Tournament of Destruction: Round Three will take place at the Dirt Oval Route 66 Raceway at 500 Speedway Blvd. in Joliet. The event starts at 5 p.m., but check in time starts at 4 p.m.
