Flag Day 'Flags of Valor' Ceremony Will Remember 20 Illinois Veterans

Joliet and other Will County residents are invited to a special ceremony Wednesday to honor veterans killed while serving the U.S.

JOLIET, IL - City of Joliet officials are holding a special ceremony on Flag Day this week; honoring a total of 20 soldiers, Marines and reservists in the process.

Will County residents are invited to Flags of Valor at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, in the Joliet City Hall's Council Chambers — They're located on the second floor of the building at 150 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet. The event is the result of a collaboration among Joliet and Will County Veterans Assistance Commission representatives, according to a community alert.

The ceremony coincides with Flag Day, an annual holiday commemorating the Second Continental Congress's June 14, 1777, adoption of the American Flag in the U.S. This year marks the 240th anniversary of that resolution.
