Former Parks Director Admits to Giving Sex Toy to Fitness Instructor Suing Him in Federal Court

The fitness instructor suffered a nervous breakdown because of the director and was hospitalized, the suit said.

JOLIET, Ill. — The former director of the Joliet Park District admitted to giving a sex toy to a fitness instructor now suing him in federal court.

The former director, Dominic Egizio, made the shocking admission in his answer to the lawsuit brought against him by Jeanetta Matichak.

Matichak, 39, who has been on medical leave since May 2015, according to the lawsuit, started working at the park district in July 2011. The married mother of three said Egizio, 50, “began to make unwelcome sexual comments” to her, “such as, ‘Come over here so I can check out your ass,’” the lawsuit said, and within months of her hire “began making sexual advances toward” her.

Matichak suffered a nervous breakdown because of Egizio and was hospitalized about the same time she went on medical leave, the suit said.

Egizio resigned from the park district in October amid a reported investigation of his allegedly inappropriate conduct.

While Matichak rebuffed Egizio’s advances, he persisted, the lawsuit said, and “gave Ms. Matichak gifts, including lingerie, clothing, perfume, a sex toy,” and other unspecified presents.

In his answer to the lawsuit, Egizio said yes, he did give Matichak the sex toy and “some clothing,” but that was it.

Egizio also confessed to bringing Matichak lunch sometimes, talking to her “many times a day,” receiving a letter from Matichak that was written by her police officer husband and that told him to leave her alone, and hearing from park district board Commissioner Art Schultz “that there were rumors that Egizio was having sex with Ms. Matichak,” but he denied that Schultz told him “good for you” and “you must have a big ----."
