Fugitive Wanted For Joliet Woman's Drug-Induced Homicide Captured: Cops

The Rockdale man was jailed early Wednesday morning.

A Rockdale man wanted in connection with a young woman’s overdose death was jailed early Wednesday morning.

Shawn Eikey, 21, was booked into custody on charges of drug-induced homicide and the unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Eikey also faces an unrelated case in Grundy County.

Eikey, a Rockdale resident, allegedly provided hydromorphone, an opioid pain medication, to 22-year-old Emily Buckley on Aug. 26, causing her death.

On the same day, Eikey also provided hydromorpone to a man named Daniel Howe, according to a criminal complaint complaint on file in Will County court, but only Buckley died.

Eikey was charged with Buckley’s drug-induced homicide on Dec. 30, but soon after the case was put under seal and removed from public view. Eikey was released from the Will County jail just two weeks prior.

In October, Eikey was charged with two counts of the unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Eikey allegedly delivered hydromorphone on two occasions, once in May and again in June.

Eikey pleaded guilty to one of the two counts in December and was sentenced to four years probation.

Eikey’s bond was set at $500,000.
