Girlfriend Viciously Beat Girlfriend on the Way to Steak 'n Shake, Chased and Continued to Beat Her in Parking Lot: Cops

The beaten girlfriend was bleeding from her head, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman viciously beat her girlfriend on the way to Steak ‘n Shake early Thursday morning, then continued to pummel her as she pursued her across the parking lot of the South Larkin Avenue restaurant.

Magali Velazquez, 26, claimed she merely threw her phone at her 23-year-old girlfriend and got her in the head, police said, but a 47-year-old woman who reportedly witnessed the attack told officers Velazquez was chasing her lover and throwing punches.

The assault allegedly started while Velazquez and her girlfriend were on their way to Steak ‘n Shake about 1:15 a.m. Velazquez had grown angry and punched the other woman numerous times in the side of the head.

When they reached the parking lot, the girlfriend realized she was bleeding, got out of the car and made a run for it, police said. But she reportedly couldn’t lose Velazquez, who kept pace with her and hit her along the way until officers arrived.

The girlfriend turned down a trip to the hospital, police said. Velazquez was taken to the Will County jail.
