Groper Fooled Woman With Ploy to Borrow Hair Dryer: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A Chicago man tricked his sister’s neighbor into letting him into her home by asking to borrow a hair dryer, police said, then once he got inside, stuck his hands down her pants and fondled her vagina.

Jamar Griffin, 30, also groped the 23-year-old woman’s breasts and buttocks, police said.

Griffin knows the woman through his sister and had socialized with her prior to the 3 p.m. Tuesday attack, police said. Griffin’s sister and the woman reportedly live across the hall from each other in one of the Evergreen Terrace apartment buildings.

Griffin knocked on the woman’s door and and asked to borrow a hair dryer for his sister to use, police said, but once he got inside, he grabbed her.

The woman escaped Griffin’s clutches and called her boyfriend, who caught up with Griffin outside at the apartment complex security gate, police said. Griffin, the woman and her boyfriend reportedly got into an altercation there and the cops were called.

Griffin was arrested and taken to the Will County jail. He was charged with battery and his bond was set at $20,000.

Griffin remains in custody.
