Gun Pulled in Sneaker Deal Gone Bad: Cops
A 17-year-old pulled a gun and helped himself to the sneakers he was supposed to be buying, police said.
JOLIET, IL — A Joliet teen pulled a gun and stole a pair of sneakers he was supposed to buy from a young man he met with Sunday morning, police said.
The 17-year-old and the 20-year-old sneaker seller had been negotiating a deal online for two days before they agreed to meet. The teen then showed up at the seller’s Casseday Street home shortly before 11:30 a.m. But instead of buying the sneakers, police said, he brandished a pistol and absconded with them.
Officers tracked the teen down a short time later and found he was still carrying the loaded pistol as well as the stolen sneakers, police said.
The teen lives only two blocks from the man he allegedly robbed at gunpoint.
The youth was arrested and taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
