Gunshots On Kelly Ave: Joliet Police Discover Loaded Gun, Make Arrest
Officers reapproached the male at which time he began running away while holding the object in his pocket.

JOLIET, IL — Gunshots were fired last week in the 800 block of Kelly Avenue and after responding to the west side neighborhood, Joliet police announced an arrest. Angell Garcia, 20, was arrested and given his notice to appear in court on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the arrest reports for Garcia's case, on April 17, 2024, at 9:57 p.m., Joliet police responded to the 800 block of Kelly Avenue for a report of shots fired in the area. Joliet police found two men in the area who indicated they did not hear anything. As the men walked away, Joliet police say they saw what appeared to be a large object in the sweatpants pocket of one of the males.
Officers reapproached the man, at which time he began running away while holding the object in his pocket, according to police. Officers quickly caught up with the man and identified him as Garcia.

Upon search of Garcia, police say officers recovered a loaded handgun from his pocket, and he was placed into custody.
"At this time, it is unknown if Garcia is responsible to the shots fired in the area," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English noted.
