Gunshots Near Joliet West High School, Campus Lockdown Has Ended

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, Joliet Township High School District officials announced.

JOLIET, IL — District 204 officials announced that gunshots have been fired in proximity to the Joliet West High School campus. Although the gunshots took place off campus on Thursday morning, school administrators have chosen to put all of their students under strict lockdown.

"The lockdown at Joliet West High School has been lifted. The Joliet Police Department has notified us that there is not a threat in the area. We thank our students, families, and staff for their cooperation," district spokesman Kristine Schlismann announced shortly before lunch.
