JOLIET, IL — Three months after Joliet Patch broke the news surrounding a serious injury crash at West Jefferson Street and Joyce Road, which badly injured a Walmart employee who was leaving work, Will County prosecutors have charged a 60-year-old Wilmington motorcyclist with multiple felonies.

Thursday marked the Will County grand jury indictment for Daryl Dunn on two counts of aggravated driving under the influence and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. According to court records, Dunn, after using cocaine, drove a blue Harley-Davidson SOF Softail motorcycle on Joyce Road in Joliet on May 16. The charges show that Dunn has previous DUI convictions from 2020 out of Rutherford County, Tennessee, 2014 in Elkhart County, Indiana and 2011 in Will County and "said violation being a fourth violation."

Dunn's second aggravated DUI count indicates "the defendant's driving privileges were revoked or suspended" at the time he drove his Harley in Joliet on Joyce Road while under the influence of cocaine on May 16.

The drug paraphernalia charge indicates Dunn "knowingly possessed a glass pipe with the intent to use it in inhaling a controlled substance into the human body" on May 16.

John Beck of Joliet's Police Department testified before the grand jury, court records show.

On May 19, Joliet Patch reported that an 18-year-old Joliet teen who was getting off his job at the Walmart store on West Jefferson Street was fighting to survive after being airlifted to Loyola following a Friday night crash with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at West Jefferson Street and Joyce Road.

Days later, a GoFundMe was established by the family of the victim called "Help Anthony Heal from His Bike Accident." The GoFundMe also contains photos showing the victim in his state of recovery at the hospital at Loyola in Maywood.

"Please, my family needs help. My brother Anthony had a bicycle accident ... getting off his job at Walmart. He was going home on his bicycle, and a motorcycle and my brother got into an accident. He's at Loyola Hospital. He's only 18 years old and he's going through so much pain and surgery," the GoFundMe announced.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:03 p.m. on May 16, officers responded to the 100 block of Joyce Road for a crash with injuries. Dunn was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Joyce Road from West Jefferson Street, and a Freego electric bicycle operated by an 18-year-old Joliet man exited the Walmart parking lot. When the electric bicycle crossed Joyce Road, the electric bike and the motorcycle collided, according to English.

As for Dunn, he is not in custody at this moment.

However, he just spent two days in the Will County Jail less than a month ago, on July 21-22, for a new Will County Sheriff's case against him, obstructing identification.

The criminal complaint for that one indicates Dunn knowingly furnished a false or fictitious name, that being William Brian Dunn, to Jeff Cowe, a peace officer with the Will County Sheriff's Police, who lawfully detained the defendant.
