Man Tried To Run Over Fleeing Woman With His Motor Vehicle: Joliet Police

Joseph Davison, age 44, was found at the residence and placed into custody without incident, Joliet police revealed.

JOLIET, IL — A 44-year-old Joliet man, Joseph Davison, spent three days in the Will County jail in connection with allegations he used his vehicle as a dangerous weapon, trying to run over a woman fleeing to get away from him, according to Joliet police reports.

Joliet police said that Davison is charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault in a public place and aggravated assault with a vehicle.

According to his arrest report, at 5:23 p.m. July 11, Joliet officers responded to the 1200 block of Agnes Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The officers learned that Davison had attacked his ex-girlfriend while in a vehicle parked in the driveway, police said.

Police spokesman Dwayne English said police allege Davison entered the passenger seat of the victim’s vehicle as she sat in the driver’s seat. Davison then grabbed the victim and then took the keys from the vehicle, according to English, before the victim got out of the vehicle and ran down the street.

Davison then drove the victim’s vehicle after her, at one point driving the vehicle into a residential yard toward the victim as she fled, English said.

The victim was not struck by the vehicle. Davison was later found at the residence and placed into custody without incident.
