Head-On Crash Leaves 1 Dead on Hill
The dead man crashed head-on with a woman he had been charged with beating.
Willard Lesley, 27, was pronounced dead on Princeton Street near Fairmount Avenue just outside Joliet.
The driver of the other vehicle, Sharletha Veasy, also 27, was taken to Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox. She was treated and released from care.
Police were called to the crash about 6:30 a.m.
At the time of his death, Lesley was wanted on felony charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, and possessing a weapon as a felon, as well as misdemeanor domestic battery charges.
The case stemmed from an alleged attack on Veasy.
The warrant for Lesley’s arrest carried a $200,000 bond.
Police were treating the wreck as an accidental crash Sunday.
