I-80 Des Plaines River Bridge Inspections Expected to Slow Traffic
The bridge inspections start Monday.

JOLIET, IL — Interstate 80 Des Plaines River bridge inspections will start Monday — weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation has announced.
"The bridge inspections will require daily lane closures on the structure that carries Interstate 80 over the Des Plaines River," IDOT said in a press release. "Closures will begin on the westbound I-80 bridge the week of Monday, April 24. Inspections will switch to the eastbound I-80 bridge on Monday, May 1, and will be completed by Saturday, May 6, weather permitting."
Two lanes will remain open during the inspections. The closures will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday through Thursday, and possibly Saturday.
