JOLIET, IL — Three days after Will County Sheriff's deputies arrested former Lockport resident Steven Canady in connection with allegations of abandoning his own child at a Joliet east-side bar in the Ingalls Park area, the 45-year-old jail inmate now has an emergency order of protection against him.

A Will County judge granted the filing from the 48-year-old woman. The order also includes three other people in her household ages 44, 25 and 23. The court documents indicate that Canady has been residing in Joliet on Argyle Place, and he is unemployed. The petitioner informed Will County's judges that she had a dating relationship with Canady, who has been in the Will County Jail a total of four times since 2018.

According to her petition, "Steven threatened me over the Will County phone, saying, 'I'm going to get your family and you.'"

Back on July 15, the woman wrote, "We got into an argument regarding his daughter. Steven punched a hole through the door, also spit in my face. Steven called the police. Police stated there were no witnesses so he was okay to just leave.

"He is currently in custody for child endangerment and abandonment. I caught Steven kicking his daughter in the face this same day. Police came looking for Steven, however, he wasn't there. Police made me aware Steven dropped his 3-year-old daughter at the bar and left. Later that day, he was arrested and taken into custody."
