Illinois DOC's No. 1 Most Wanted Fugitive Captured in Ohio

The Joliet man was also wanted in connection with a lewd and violent rampage outside the Sunshine Food Mart.

JOLIET, IL — U.S. Marshals captured the No. 1 most wanted fugitive sought by the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Sidney Moore-Walters, 39, topped the most wanted list as an alleged parole absconder. Moore-Walters was also wanted locally in connection with an alleged lewd and violent rampage outside the Sunshine Food Mart on Wilcox Street in Joliet.

In the July incident, Moore-Walters allegedly punched a man in the face outside Sunshine Food Mart, broke a window, damaged furniture at tax preparation business LTG Services on Wilcox, vandalized a woman’s Chevy Blazer, and pulled down his boxer shorts, exposing himself to “arouse or satisfy (his) sexual desire,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court.

The Will County warrant for Moore-Walters’ arrest carries a $1.5 million bond.

Marshals took Moore-Walters’ into custody in Ohio Friday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources. The Marshals Service and the Department of Corrections both belong to the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, a source explained.

Moore-Walters has been on parole since his release from prison in February 2015.
