The Irish Corner Cantina Coming To Joliet's Black Road
In 2023, Joliet Patch wrote stories about the demise of Fireman Ted's Bar and Grill. Now, a new bar with an Irish name wants to open there.
JOLIET, IL — Mike Kelley, who has 15 years experience in the sales and service of alcohol, has proposed opening a new bar in Joliet along Black Road at the former location of Fireman Ted's. Located at 2771 Black Road, Kelley's bar will be called The Irish Corner Cantina and will focus on music and karaoke.
According to the Joliet City Council memo, Kelley is a person of good character and 20 percent of the gross revenue will come from sales of alcoholic beverages and the Joliet Police Department does not foresee any problems if the Council approves the liquor license. Mayor Terry D'Arcy and deputy liquor commissioner Jim O'Connell indicate that approving the liquor license for The Irish Corner Cantina will be in the best interests of their city.
The Joliet Council will vote on the Class B liquor license at Tuesday night's meeting.
