Jailed City Council Meeting Enthusiast Threatened Detective Assigned to City Hall: Sources

He left a threatening voicemail for the detective, sources said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man was jailed Thursday evening for allegedly threatening a police detective assigned to City Hall.

Christopher Pedersen, 32, was booked into custody shortly before 6 p.m. He was charged with threatening a public official, telephone harassment and disorderly conduct.

Pedersen regularly attends Joliet City Council meetings and participates during the public comments.

The charges stem from a recent call he made to the the mayor’s office, according to sources who said Pedersen left a threatening voicemail message for the detective.
