Jean Mathis (nee Williams)
Of Joliet, formerly of New Lenox, passed away at her residence with her family by her side, Monday, September 15, 2025 at the age of 82 years.
Jean is survived by her son Keith Mathis, her five grandchildren Mike and Nick (Faith) Mathis, Kristina (Shawn-deceased) Kavanaugh, Faith and Josh Mathis. Ten great-grandchildren Skylar, Patrick, Cassidy, Macie, Max, Tommy, Sophia, Ezekiel, Laylan and Roman. She was joyfully anticipating the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild later this year. Jean also leaves behind her devoted sisters Mary Lou (Michael) Bauer and Mary Ellen (Daniel) Stout, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family who cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Mathis (1992) and son Craig Mathis (1987). Her parents Francis G. “Red” Williams (1988) and Shirley L. Williams (2013)

Jean was born January 8, 1943 in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1960. Jean was an administrative assistant with Bill Jacobs Automotive Group for 39 years. Prior to that she work for Chicago Title Insurance Co. Former member of St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox, where she was involved with many church and prayer groups. Upon moving to Joliet, Jean attended Queen of Apostle Catholic Church. Jean enjoyed classic movies, cherished time playing cards, and found joy in simple, meaningful moments with her family.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmqiust-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, September 23rd at 12:00 P.M. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
