Joliet Man Had Been Drinking, Struck Woman In Head, Face: Joliet Police
Her son informed the officers that he went to assist his mother, who was caught in a wrestling-style armbar by Joseph Rowland, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 36-year-old Joliet man from the 300 block of Fairlane Drive, Joseph Rowland, has returned to the community after spending two days in the Will County Jail following his Joliet police arrest over the weekend in connection with allegations of domestic violence.
On Sunday night, Joliet police arrested Rowland on two counts of domestic battery.

On June 22, 2025, at about 11:30 p.m., the officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Fairlane Drive in response to domestic disturbance. The caller indicated he was involved in a dispute with his ex-girlfriend and her son and mentioned she was in possession of his handgun.
Upon arrival, the officers could hear a commotion inside the residence. Once inside, they saw Rowland in a physical altercation with the caller's 15-year-old son, Landeros said.

The people were separated, and Rowland was detained for safety. The officers also located the gun. The victim, a 37-year-old resident of Joliet, informed the officers that Rowland had been drinking and struck her multiple times in the head and face. She called for her son to assist her, which led to a confrontation between Rowland and her son. The victim stated that Rowland is an alcoholic and they had taken his firearm for safety reasons, the arrest report showed.
According to the arrest reports, Rowland was upset about the confiscation of his gun, and her son managed to restrain him. Her son informed the officers that he went to assist his mother, who was caught in a wrestling-style armbar by Rowland. When his mother screamed for help, he intervened. Rowland continued to threaten him and struck him several times on the body while he was restraining Rowland.
After the officers took Rowland to the Will County Jail, his gun was removed from the residence and placed into evidence for safekeeping, Landeros shared.
