Store In Ruins: Massive Joliet Fire At MAG Appliance On Broadway
Joliet's near west side fire inside MAG Appliance was elevated to a box alarm within 15 minutes after the first arriving company.

JOLIET — Wednesday afternoon's devastating fire to the Greenway Plaza on North Broadway Street has left Joliet's MAG Appliance sales, parts and service store in total ruins.
According to Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Pat Strocchia, at 1:31 p.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1301 Broadway St. The first arriving unit arrived within two minutes of the initial alarm. Fire crews found the single story, 30-by-100-foot commercial building with heavy smoke and fire throughout the attic.
All building occupants safely exited the structure before the Joliet Fire Department arrived. The fire was elevated to a box alarm within 15 minutes after the first arriving company. The building sustained heavy damage.

The building was used as an appliance retail and repair store, Joliet's battalion chief said. No injuries were reported. Crews were still on the scene as of 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The fire's cause remains under investigation. Crews from Station 5, 1, 4, 6, 7 and Lockport Fire Protection District Station 2 responded.
