Joliet Catholic Academy Announces 3 December Students Of The Month

JOLIET, IL —Joliet Catholic Academy President/Principal Dr. Jeffrey Budz is pleased to announce the December Students of the Month: Derek Black (Kiwanis Club), Lenny Duncan-Djondo (Lions Club), and Megan Ardaugh (Rotary Club). JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited in both the classroom and in the community.

Derek Black, son of Lisa and Timothy Black of Shorewood, is a graduate of Holy Family Grade School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Derek is a member of the varsity soccer team and manager of the varsity baseball team. He is the Aviation Club Secretary and a Student Ambassador. Derek is a member of Student Council, Key Club, and Habitat for Humanity. He is busy outside of his school duties as he plays travel baseball. Derek plans to study at a four-year university and major in kinesiology.

Lenny Duncan-Djondo, son of Sarah Duncan and Joseph Djondo of Plainfield, is a graduate of St. Andrew the Apostle Grade School. Lenny is a Kazma Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society for which he is the Communications Director, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He participates in Key Club and Medical Science Club. Lenny is a Student Ambassador, Kairos Leader, and Eucharistic Minister. He is also a member of the varsity basketball team. Outside of his school responsibilities, Lenny will be working at Zaxby’s this winter and is a hospital volunteer. Lenny is undecided on where he would like to attend college but plans to study pre-medicine, nutritional sciences, and health sciences. He would like to eventually become an emergency or family medicine physician with the intent to open his own practice one day.

Megan Ardaugh, daughter of Ann and Thomas Ardaugh of Lockport, is a graduate of St. Raymond Grade School. Megan is a member of the National Honor Society and acting secretary, National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta for which she is an officer. She is a member of the varsity tennis team where she has been a two-year captain, a three-time state qualifier, and has won several tennis awards. Megan is the Student Council Executive Board Secretary and Math Team captain, a Student Ambassador, and is active in Key Club, Future Teachers of America, Scholastic Bowl, Habitat for Humanity, and Medical Science Club. Megan keeps busy outside of school as she is a hostess at Chesdan’s Pizzeria and Grille in Homer Glen. While she is undecided on where she will go to college, she intends to major in elementary education and return to the area to teach at a local elementary school in the future.
