Joliet City Manager Retiring Next Month
James Hock submitted his retirement letter, the mayor confirmed.

JOLIET, IL — City Manager James Hock will retire next month.
"He gave me a letter today," Mayor Bob O'Dekirk said Thursday. "He said it's just time for him."
Hock was named city manager in October 2013. His last day will be May 3.

O'Dekirk lauded Hock for his work as city manager.
"He's done a great job," O'Dekirk said. " We're really going to miss him."

Hock did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Prior to taking the city manager job in Joliet, Hock was the assistant city manager for two towns in Michigan, Sterling Heights and Oak Park.
Hock was preceded as city manager by Tom Thanas, who was hired in 2008.
