Joliet Dad Shows Up, Stands Up For Family

JOLIET, IL— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Joliet, meet Aldo Ocampo.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Jimena Ocampo who nominated Aldo Ocampo of Joliet.

What makes your dad extra special?

My dad always makes me feel special because I can be myself around him. We always have a lot in common and we joke around all the time. Whenever we are out or with family he speaks up for me because he understands my anxiety. He works hours and hours but he still makes time to come over and see me. He can be very tired and have a bad day at work but he will still show up for my games or to practice volleyball with me.

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

My dad works really hard at understanding my mental health and everything I have gone through. It’s all new to him but he is learning more every day.
