Joliet Fire On May Street: This House Sustains Heavy Damage

Fire crews from stations 1,5 and 6 responded to the scene.

JOLIET, IL — On the second day of the month, the Joliet Fire Department battled its first house fire of July. Battalion Chief Jim Batusich informed Joliet Patch's editor that at 11:20 a.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to the 300 block of South May Street for a structure fire.

The first units arrived within 3 minutes and saws heavy black smoke and fire coming from the first floor. Multiple fires were found on the first and second floor. The structure had fire, smoke and water damage. No one was home at the time the fire started, and there were no injuries. The fire was declared under control at noon.

Crews remained on the scene for one hour extinguishing hot spots. Fire crews from stations 1,5 and 6 responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Joliet Fire Investigation Team.
