JOLIET, IL — At Tuesday night's meeting, the Joliet City Council will consider a proposed labor agreement between the City of Joliet and the Joliet Fire Officers, Local 2369 of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).
Among the key components of the proposed agreement is a residency provision that allows fire officers to live within 50 miles of the intersection of Jefferson Street and Essington Road, which aligns with the recently approved Collective Bargaining Agreement with Joliet Fire Fighters Local 44. This expanded residency is part of the city’s effort to attract applicants from not only Joliet but also its neighboring communities.
