Joliet Gunman Keeps Shooting Up Same West Side Neighborhood: Cops

JOLIET, IL— Someone fired several bullets Sunday night near the intersection of Norley and Hosmer, only to return to the scene of the crime almost three hours later, shooting off even more bullets, according to Joliet police reports.

Joliet police sergeant Dwayne English said the following events unfolded around 11 p.m. Sunday and then around 1:45 a.m. Monday.

First, at 10:59 p.m., the officers responded to the area of Norley Avenue and Hosmer Street for shots fired. Residents overheard multiple shots being fired in the area. The sound of the gunfire was captured by a resident’s doorbell camera system. Officers performed a canvas of the area and were unable to locate any victims or objects that were struck.

Officers have not found any spent shell casings at this time.

Later in the morning, at 1:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Norley Avenue for an additional report of shots fired that was captured by a resident’s doorbell camera.

Officers canvassed the area and located a spent shell casing in the 1000 block of Norley Avenue. The police did not locate any victims or objects that had been struck.

Officers returned to the 1000 block of Norley Avenue later, at 7:30 a.m., after a resident found several spent shell casings in the street. The casings were recovered by the police.

In both incidents, a light-colored sedan type vehicle had been observed leaving the area following the shots being fired, English explained.
