Joliet House On Fire Near Collins Street Takes 2 Hours To Extinguish
Six people were treated for minor smoke inhalation by Joliet Fire Department paramedics on the scene.

JOLIET — Crews from the Joliet Fire Department were battling Tuesday evening's house fire at 502 Liberty Street for roughly two hours, according to Joliet Fire Battalion Chief Jim Batusich.
He said the Joliet Fire Department responded to 502 Liberty St. at 4:50 p.m. for the structure fire. The first units arrived within 4 minutes and were met with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of a 2-story single family dwelling.
All the residents escaped the building, and one juvenile was taken to Silver Cross for evaluation with minor injuries. Six people were treated for minor smoke inhalation by paramedics on the scene.

Two adjacent houses sustained exposure damage from the fire. Other crews performed water supply, search, ventilation, salvage and overhaul, safety and support functions. Fire crews from stations 1, 4, 5, and 6 responded to the scene. The fire is currently under investigation, Batusich said.
