JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Joliet citizen is no longer in custody following his recent charges of aggravated battery after his Joliet police arrest. Prosecutors have charged Nicholas Wrzek with aggravated battery, two counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. On Sept. 23, Wrzek attacked a relative who is more than 60 years old by grabbing the man around the neck, according to the criminal complaint.

The domestic battery charge accuses Wrzek of grabbing the same man about the neck. In addition, Wrzek is accused of hitting a woman in the head and taking the woman's phone preventing her from calling 911.

After spending three days in the Will County Jail, Wrzek has been released from custody. Prosecutors did not submit a petition seeking pretrial detention for Wrzek, who comes from Joliet's 6800 block of Cornwall Drive.
