Joliet Man Claiming Ex-Girlfriend was Coming to Shoot Him Calls 911 8 times, Curses Cops, Dares Them to Fight: Police

The ex-girlfriend never did turn up, police said.

A Joliet man claiming his ex-girlfriend and her mother were coming to shoot him called 911 eight times, then cursed the cops, threatened emergency dispatchers, and dared officers to fight him, police said.

A little after 4 a.m. Friday, 31-year-old Javier Sanchez made his first call to the city’s emergency dispatch center, police said. He reportedly told of his ex-girlfriend and her mother threatening to shoot him and said they were on their way to his Vista Lane home.

Officers arrived quickly — but not before Sanchez had time to call 911 again, police said. When they got there, the officers saw no sign of the ex-girlfriend or her mother. They did reportedly find a “belligerently intoxicated” Sanchez.

The officers left and Sanchez called again to let them know that if they didn’t track down his girlfriend, he would shoot her himself, police said. The officers then went back to Sanchez’s house and he allegedly threatened to beat them up. After they left, he called 911 once again and threatened to kill the emergency dispatchers.

Officers swung by the ex-girlfriend’s Raynor Avenue home but she wasn’t around, police said. Sanchez then called another time, made derogatory comments and accused officers of taking his girlfriend’s side in the dispute. He allegedly dared the police to fight him. The officers finally arrested Sanchez on a charge of disorderly conduct.
