JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department made an arrest of 23-year-old Chicago resident Salvador Angeles after authorities say he was so inebriated that he crashed into two different parked vehicles while transporting a 2-year-old child as his passenger.

Joliet police say that Angeles was later released on a Notice to Appear on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the life or health of a child.

Sunday's arrest happened during the early morning hours near Theodore Street and the Cumberland South Park areas of Joliet's far west side.

According to English, Angeles grew aggressive toward the resident and 911 was called. Angeles indicated he had been drinking prior to driving and that he struck the two parked vehicles, police said.

Angeles refused to perform field sobriety tests, and was placed into custody without incident. Upon search of the vehicle, the officers recovered suspected cocaine, English said.

The 2-year-old boy was taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department as a precaution, and he was eventually released to the care of his mother.
