Joliet Mom 'Is The Glue' That Keeps Family Together, Son Says

JOLIET, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My Mom is the the glue that keeps my brother, sister and I tight. Unfortunately we all live in different states. My mom created a group chat with us and starts off everyday with a “Good Morning.” Now not a day goes by that we don’t talk. My Mom is also quite the seamstress, often making Halloween costumes for the kids and the adults who are still kids at heart. My Mom lost her mom to Alzheimer’s many years ago, and every year she puts together a team to walk to end ALZ, raising money in memory of her mom “Grandma Estella." She works full-time and often works many hours of overtime yet still comes home on most weekends to visit.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

My Mom is a rock in our family! We have all went to her for advice, help and back massages. She is the reason that our family remains close even though we all live thousands of miles apart .
