Joliet Motorist Blows Stop Sign, Goes To Hospital, Then To Will County Jail: English

JOLIET, IL — A 44-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say that he drove through a stop sign on Nicholson Street and crashed into another vehicle. The incident prompted Love Walker's subsequent arrest and detention on charges of aggravated DUI, obstructing justice and felony driving while license revoked.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said Walker's wreck happened around 6:05 p.m. on Sunday at Nicholson and Douglas Streets.

His GMC Sierra was northbound on Nicholson Street at Douglas Street when Walker allegedly disobeyed the stop sign and entered the intersection and was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 50-year-old Joliet woman that was eastbound on Douglas Street, the arrest report showed.

The collision caused the GMC to roll over on its side. Walker went to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with minor injuries. The other driver was not injured. The eastbound Chevrolet did not have a stop sign.

At the hospital, the officers noted indicators consistent with possible alcohol impairment and Walker was placed into custody at the hospital, English noted.

Walker was transported to the Joliet Police Department following his release from the hospital, where police say he refused to cooperate with booking procedures.

He was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Walker was also cited for disobeyed stop sign, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Walker held previous convictions for driving while license revoked, Joliet police revealed.
