Joliet Realtor's New Location Will Surprise You
More than 50 people attended Wednesday's ribbon cutting for Mark Koenig, owner of The Koenig Group Real Estate Services.

JOLIET, IL — More than 50 people packed into a downtown Joliet hallway and conference room to celebrate Wednesday's 4 p.m. ribbon-cutting for Mark Koenig. The Koenig Group Real Estate Services opened an office in downtown Joliet, at 58 North Chicago St., the seven-story building owned by Mike Petry.
Koenig said there are a total of four people affiliated with The Koenig Group that will work out of the location. He said it's been several years since downtown Joliet had a real estate broker with a permanent office in Joliet's downtown.
Koenig's new location will focus on both commercial and residential real estate all over the entire Joliet area.

"And we're actually doing business out of downtown Joliet here instead of out of my house," Koenig remarked at the ribbon-cutting.
"The key goal of being downtown is to actually have an office," Koenig said.

Koenig said he's the fourth generation of his family to be a part of Joliet.
"I started in the business working out of Joliet with different brokers and now that I'm actually in downtown, I'm looking forward to doing a little bit more business in the downtown area and definitely more in Joliet," Koenig told Joliet Patch.
Koenig said that a big component of his future success will be his expanding into residential property.
"Most people think of The Koenig Group as a commercial company, I've had Mike Smetana that has been with me probably four or five years now ... now with Amber Duffy on board here, (we're) just trying to promote the business a little bit," Koenig said.
Joliet Patch asked Koenig for his thoughts about residential development in downtown Joliet.
"I think it has a great future here," Koenig replied. "I think things are going in the right direction here."
Joliet Chamber President Jen Howard said Koenig has been a great Joliet Chamber member and a great ambassador for the organization. "We wish him much success downtown," Howard said.
