Joliet Man Killed In Crash Identified By Coroner

35-year-old Travis Gordon died from his injuries after hitting a light pole and a fence on Black Road before being extricated from the car.

JOLIET, IL — A 35-year-old Joliet man was killed on Wednesday night when the car he was driving left the roadway and struck a light pole and then a fence, Joliet Police announced on Thursday.

The Will County Coroner's Office identified him as Travis Gordon on Thursday evening.

The crash took place at 10:17 p.m. when police were called to the intersection of Black Road and Barber Lane. Police said Gordon was driving west on Black Road when he left the road and crashed, eventually hitting a fence on the north side of Black Road.

Gordon was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, where he died at 11:23 from injuries sustained in the crash, the coroner's office announced.

The Coroner's office announced that the manner of death will be determined once the autopsy, police investigation and toxicology reports are completed. The crash remains under investigation.
