Joliet Robbery Lands Man In Jail After Running Behind Gas Station: Police

A pipe used for smoking narcotics was recovered upon search of Morrow, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department said 40-year-old Quitman Morrow was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility for a July 4th robbery. Morrow was also arrested on additional charges of obstructing a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 7:01 p.m. July 4, officers responded to the area of 52 McDonough St. for a robbery. A 36-year-old woman told police she was approached by Morrow, who asked her for money. Morrow knew the woman, according to the arrest reports.

English said Morrow then grabbed a $10 bill that the victim had concealed in her dress before fleeing. A description of Morrow was disseminated to other officers by Joliet Police dispatchers.

Later in the same evening, at 9:02 p.m., officers found Morrow behind the gas station at
379 S. Chicago St. According to English, when Morrow ran from officers, they quickly caught up to him and placed him into custody. A pipe used for smoking narcotics was recovered upon search of Morrow, the arrest report noted.
