Joliet Sex Offender Visits Park, Refuses To Cooperate With Joliet Police: Police

JOLIET, IL — One of Joliet's child sexual offenders, 41-year-old Bon Scott Turnbaugh, is back in the Will County Jail for the fourth time since 2020. This week, Joliet police arrested him for being at one of Joliet's parks.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, officers booked Turnbaugh into the jail on charges of child sex offender present in a public park, resisting a peace officer and obstructing justice. The jail records indicate that Turnbaugh resides in the 300 block of Fairbanks.

The arrest report shows that at 11:17 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Ridgewood Park at 1189 E. Jackson St. for a possible disturbance. The officers spotted Turnbaugh, alone in the park, according to the agency.

English noted that Turnbaugh refused to provide identification when asked. He then continued to refuse to identify himself to officers and was subsequently taken into custody without incident. While being placed in the squad car, Turnbaugh refused to enter the vehicle and officers were eventually able to secure him in the vehicle.

Joliet police later discovered that Turnbaugh is a registered sex offender. He refused to cooperate with the booking process and was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, officials said.

Meanwhile, the Illinois State Police public sex offender registry, which is often outdated, appears to include no listing for anyone named Bon Turnbaugh, just as Joliet Patch reported back in 2022.

Will County Jail records indicate that Turnbaugh still resides at 306 Fairbanks Ave., on the city's east side.
