Landeros said that earlier this month, Franklin tried to rob the victim of jewelry using a gun. When Franklin was unable to obtain the jewelry, he fired at the victim, striking him in the leg. The victim and bystanders fled as Franklin continued to discharge his weapon. Franklin was identified as the person who shot the victim and attempted to commit the robbery, according to Landeros.
Franklin was processed and subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility without any incidents, and he remained in the jail as of Friday.
