Shooter Captured By Joliet Police After House Raid: English

At 9 a.m. Joliet detectives, the SWAT team and K9 unit raided Maurice Robinson's house in the 200 block of Munroe Street. He was captured.

JOLIET, IL — Less than one week after Joliet police determined that 20-year-old Maurice Robinson Jr. aimed his gun at a 21-year-old man and shot him in the arm as the victim was accompanied by a young woman, Robinson has been captured in connection with the non-fatal shooting.

Joliet police raided the Robinson household in the 200 block of Munroe Street around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

By mid-afternoon, Robinson was brought to the Will County Jail, which is several blocks away. He's being charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm having No FOID, and possession of ammunition having No FOID.

"As the investigation into this shooting progressed, detectives developed information that the gunfire during this shooting came from a residence in the 200 block of Munroe Street," English explained in his press release.

During Tuesday's raid at the house on Munroe, Joliet police say they recovered a loaded handgun and ammunition. Robinson was inside, so he was taken to the Joliet Police Department.

"Following questioning, detectives determined that Robinson was responsible for firing a handgun on April 25," English said.

Last week, Joliet Patch reported that someone driving a dark-colored sedan on Joliet's southeast side shot a 21-year-old man during the overnight hours, according to the police. Last Thursday's shooting happened around 12:45 a.m.

In the area of Water Street and Munroe Street, Joliet officers found a 21-year-old man who had sustained a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm.

Officers learned that the victim was shot while walking with a 20-year-old woman near Munroe Street and Water Street. The woman was not struck by the gunfire.

English said Joliet police believe the gunfire came from a dark-colored sedan in the area. The victim was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department ambulance.
