New Starbucks Coffee Shop Opens On Joliet's Jefferson Street: Photos
Joliet's newest Starbucks has now opened in the former Bakers Square property along West Jefferson Street.

JOLIET, IL — When Joliet businessman Terry D'Arcy ran for mayor more than two years ago, one of his top priorities was bringing more revitalization and redevelopment to parts of his city that looked tired and worn out. One such business property was the empty Bakers Square restaurant on West Jefferson Street. The vacant restaurant was falling apart and had overgrown weeds during the summer.
Now, the empty Bakers Square no longer exists. This week, Joliet welcomed its newest restaurant on West Jefferson Street: the newly constructed Starbucks coffee shop opened for business on Memorial Day weekend. Employees told Joliet Patch that their new Starbucks at 2211 W. Jefferson St. is now brewing fresh coffee and teas seven days a week.
This Starbucks is open 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. If you prefer ordering at the drive-thru, you will like this location because there's a long drive-thru lane that wraps behind the building, that way vehicles are not waiting along the westbound lanes of Jefferson Street trying to enter the parking lot.

As for the existing Starbucks coffee shop on the opposite side of Jefferson Street, over near the Menards in the T-Mobile building, that Starbucks will remain open, the employees told Patch. Starbucks believes there's enough coffee drinkers passing through Joliet's west side and Route 52 traffic for both of the Starbucks locations to be profitable.
