Kicked Out of Park District Athletic Club, Joliet Man Threatens to 'Shoot That Place Up' - Cops

He was at the athletic club on a one-day free pass, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man failed to make the most of his one-day free pass to the park district’s Inwood Athletic Club, so he threatened to come back and “shoot that place up,” police said.

Malik Neal, 21, allegedly wore out his welcome at the athletic club Wednesday morning by making “off-color remarks” and rummaging through unlocked lockers.

He also asked for someone to massage him, police said, saying, “I need a massage,” and, “Do you guys give massages.”

After he was told to leave, Neal said he was going to return and shoot a park district worker, according to police.

Shortly after, a woman reportedly flagged down a police officer and told him Neal walked up to her car and pounded on her window.

The officer located Neal — who had made it across Jefferson Street but was still near the athletic club — and asked him about the incident with the woman.

Neal pointed across the street to the athletic club, police said, and told the officer, “I’m going to shoot that place up and I’m going to shoot you in the head.”

The officer arrested Neal. He was taken to the county jail and booked on charges of disorderly conduct and the aggravated intimidation of a police officer.
