Lions Club Students of the Month

From the Shorewood Lions Club:

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Shorewood Lions Club recognized Troy Community School District 30-C March Students of the Month at the school district’s April board meeting.

The March Students of the Month are William B. Orenic Intermediate School sixth-graders Will Stiteley, whose guardian is Carrie Scholtes; Jack Wegley, whose guardians are Kent and Jennifer Wegley; Gwen Cantu, whose guardians are Greg and Jennifer Cantu; and Daniel Prost, whose guardians are Matthew and Elizabeth Prost.

Troy Middle School seventh-graders are Joslyn Prosek, whose guardians are Michael and Carrie Prosek; Bryan Carlos, whose guardians are Rodolfo and Maria Carlos; Steffy Gerwert, whose guardians are Gerardo Gerwert and Martha Valdez; and Nikolaus Dakalis, whose guardians are Sotirios and Maureen Dakalis.

TMS eighth-graders are Gustavo Hernandez, whose guardians are Angel and Monica Hernandez; Vincent Guzman, whose guardian is Nina Guzman; Christopher Palacios, whose guardians are Juan and Macarmen Palacios; and Emma Athern, whose guardians are Patrick and Tracy Athern.

Lions Club President Noelle Viola said the students were selected on the basis of consistent effort, productive citizenship, positive attitude, participation in class and advisory team.

In addition to certificates from the Shorewood Lions Club, the students also received a gift from sponsor Pizza 4 U, in Shorewood.

The Shorewood Lions Club helps any needy person in Troy Township who has a sight or hearing problem get glasses, hearing aids and other related equipment, including seeing eye dogs. They will also help sight- or hearing-impaired children sign up for Camp Lions in the summer. The club meets at the Joliet Elks Lodge the second Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome.
