Live Video Of Joliet Apartment Building Fire: Here's How Lives Were Saved
Tuesday's fire broke out at the Twin Oak Apartments off Essington Road, just a couple blocks north of West Jefferson Street in Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has released body camera video from one of its officers who responded to Tuesday morning's devastating apartment building fire at 115 Essington Road.
"This seamless collaboration stands as another powerful reminder that the brave men and women of the Joliet Fire Department and Joliet Police Department carry a deep sense of pride in the patch they wear, a patch that bears the name of our city. That pride fuels their dedication to serving every resident with courage, professionalism, and heart, no matter the risk, no matter the hour," the Facebook post reads. "Thanks to the exceptional coordination between both agencies, lives were likely saved and further injuries prevented. Joliet’s first responders stand shoulder to shoulder, united by duty and committed to protecting the people of this community every single day."
The Joliet Fire Department said seven tenants from the Twin Oaks Apartments at 115 Essington Road were treated for minor injuries and three people were rescued from an apartment balcony.

The city's Emergency and Disaster Management Office is leading efforts to relocate several apartment dwellers who lost their homes during Tuesday's 8:17 a.m. fire, one of the largest fires in the city of Joliet in 2025. The fire spread into the attic, and the fire was declared under control at 9:23 a.m. A total of 40 firefighters from Stations 1, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 helped extinguish the blaze.
