Local Organization Offers Help for Summer Cooling

The Will County Center for Community Concerns reminds people that the LIHEAP summer cooling program began July 15. To be eligible for assistance, households must be at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. They must also include a household member who is:

• 60 years or older
• a child under the age of five (5)
• has a medical condition that can be ameliorated by air conditioning (such as asthma, emphysema, coronary disease and terminal illness)
• receiving SSI benefits/Social Security Disability or
• have a pending determination case with the Social Security Administration.

In other business news:

• Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center announced on its Facebook page that US News & World Report named them as #11 in the Chicago area and in Illinois on their Best Hospitals list. Presence Saint Joseph is the only hospital in Will County to make the list.
