Man Stabbed to Death, Allegedly Over Pot Squabble, Has Go Fund Me Page

The donations are to fund his funeral expenses and the futures of his daughters.

A Joliet man stabbed to death, supposedly during a disagreement of over the quality of marijuana, has a Go Fund Me page set up in his name.

Rudy Valdez, 25, was pronounced dead at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Monday afternoon. Valdez had been stabbed multiple times Sunday night and was found by police sprawled in a yard off Reflection Court.

Valdez was stabbed over $40 worth of bad marijuana, police said. A teenager on the scene, who happens to live on Reflection Court, was taken into custody early Monday in connection with the knife attack. Rodolfo Trujillo, 19, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, but those charges will likely be upgraded to murder in light of Valdez’s death.

Trujillo allegedly plunged a kitchen knife into Valdez’s belly.

A second teen allegedly involved in the fight with Valdez, 19-year-old Oracio Loera of Plainfield, was also arrested. Loera was jailed on charges of aggravated battery and mob action.

Yet another 19-year-old allegedly involved in the altercation with Valdez ended up getting stabbed in the pelvis. The wounded teen was fighting alongside Trujillo and Loera when Trujillo inadvertently stabbed him, police said.

The wounded teen fled the scene in a black Jeep, police said. He was located after the Jeep crashed during his getaway.

That teen was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was listed in stable condition Monday.

Valdez was in a “grave situation” and his chances for surviving the stabbing were “touch-and-go” Monday morning, police said.

The Go Fund Me Page set up in Valdez’s name says it will accept donations to pay for his funeral and prepare for his daughters’ future.

“As you all know, Rudy was unexpectly taken away from us,” the page says. ”He leaves behind alot of family, friends that turned into family, and two beautiful daughters. I’d like to try and raise money for his family to help with funeral areangments , and his daughters future needs and education. Anything is better than nothing at all. Rest in peace Rudy. As you know, life is too short. Tell everyone you care about, that you love them. God bless.”

As of Tuesday morning, the page had raised $510 of its $10,000 goal.

Trujillo was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
