NEW LENOX, IL — It could have been the full moon coming Jan. 3, or the abrupt weather changes of late, but 10 babies were vying to be the first born at Silver Cross Hospital in 2026.

But the title ultimately went to baby Aaron L. of Joliet, who made his debut at 12:01 a.m., making him the first baby born in the Chicago area in 2026.

Baby Aaron weighed in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and measured 20 inches long. He’s the third baby born to parents Lisbeth and Carlos.
