Minooka Hockey Skates Into Inaugural Season With Exciting Win – Home Opener This Weekend
Minooka Hockey opens with 5–2 win; first home game & free Minooka/Channahon fan skate set for this Saturday at 4:50 pm @ Canlan Ice Arena.
The Minooka Indians High School Hockey Club is off to a thrilling start in its inaugural fall season. After finishing in the Top 4 at the Warrior Preseason Tournament, the Indians carried their momentum into league play with a decisive 5–2 victory over Lyons in their regular-season opener on Sunday September 21st. The Indians outshot Lyons 39–17, showing strong energy, teamwork, and determination on the ice.
“This was a great way to kick off the season,” said Head Coach Jerry Fronek. “The boys played hard, worked together, and gave us a glimpse of the exciting hockey still to come.”
The excitement continues this weekend as Minooka Hockey hosts its first-ever official home opener on Saturday, September 27th at Canlan Ice Arena in Romeoville.

Thanks to sponsor Aces Garage Bar & Grill, Minooka/Channahon students, friends, and families are invited to a Free Open Skate with the Indians at 4:50 p.m. which includes skate rental. Following the skate, the Indians will face off against Plainfield at 6:10 p.m.
The evening will feature plenty of giveaways, including Minooka Hockey wristbands, T-shirts, and prizes from community partners such as Chicago Wolves, Hooters of Joliet, Pizza Ranch Shorewood, Channahon Lanes & Mini Golf, Game Changer Pickleball, Chasing T’s, Craft Therapy, Liz Stephenson John Greene Realtor, and more. Minooka Hockey merchandise will also be available for purchase.

The Minooka Hockey season is packed with ways for the community to get involved:
- October 3rd: Look for the Indians in the Homecoming Parade, handing out foam pucks, wristbands, and candy.
- October 5th: Homecoming Hockey Game vs. Lincoln-Way at 3:30 p.m., featuring a special appearance by the Chicago Wolves Mascot SKATES for photos, autographs, and giveaways.
- November 1st: 7th & 8th Grade Free Skate at 4:40 p.m., followed by a game vs. the Warriors at 6:10 p.m. A great opportunity for future Indians to meet coaches and learn more about the program.
- January 2nd: Senior Night, celebrating Minooka Hockey’s first graduating class.
