The mother went to jail, the child was taken by a relative and the car got towed.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet mom who was high on drugs rolled by the cops with a shredded front tire, her young child in the back seat and crack cocaine in the car, police said.

Lolita Bennett, 31, was behind the wheel of a Pontiac Aztek and heading south on Chicago Street Friday night when she drove past a sheriff’s deputy who noticed her left front tire was completely flat and coming apart, police said.

Bennett allegedly blew through a red light at Mills Road. The deputy then pulled her over near Old Elm Road.

Bennett failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said. Deputies reportedly found crack, marijuana and Bennett’s 5-year-old child in the car.

Bennett was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, endangering the life of a child and driving on unsafe tires. She was taken to the Will County jail.

Bennett’s child was turned over to a relative and her Aztek was towed.
