More Joliet Traffic Nightmares Announced As Halloween Nears

Drivers should be prepared for long delays and are reminded to slow down and use extreme caution when driving through the work zone.

JOLIET — As part of the city of Joliet's Broadway, Center, and Western Water Main Improvement Project, a road closure of eastbound Route 30, which Plainfield Road and Center Street, between Taylor Street and Western Avenue will begin on Wednesday, October 30.

This work on Plainfield Road and Center Street is anticipated to be completed by December 20.

Detours will be posted for eastbound Route 30.

The following route is recommended:

Eastbound US Route 30 (Plainfield Road) detoured onto eastbound Theodore Street to southbound Broadway (Route 53). Continue on southbound Broadway to Ruby Street, go eastbound on Ruby St (Continuing on Route 53) to cross the DesPlaines River on Ruby Street, turn Southbound on Chicago Street (Continuing on Route 53). Continue on Chicago Street as it turns into Ottawa Street back to Jefferson Street, U.S. Route 30.

Drivers should be prepared for long delays and are reminded to slow down and use extreme caution when driving through the work zone. Obey the posted speed limit and signing and watch for workers or flaggers. For the safety of workers and drivers do not use cell phones or text.
