Motorist's Cadillac Shot Up While He Was Driving On The Hill: Cops

The man never saw his attacker, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A motorist’s Cadillac was shot up as he drove on the Hill Saturday evening, police said.

The 43-year-old man was turning off Fairview Avenue onto Rosalind Street when his back window and side mirror shattered shortly after 7:30 p.m. He reportedly heard six or seven shots fired.

The driver sped away to Lockport and — when he felt he was safe — got out to assess the damage.

The man never saw his attacker but callers reportedly told the cops of seeing a black-clad man running toward Lockport Township, police said.

The gun attack was one of three over the weekend. On Friday evening, a couple was shot just blocks away on Arthur Avenue near Juniper Street. A 20-year-old woman was hit in the elbow and a 21-year-old man took a bullet to the back of his head — but didn’t even realize it until after he got to the hospital, police said.

Early Sunday morning, two men were wounded when a gunman opened fire into a large crowd hanging out on Fairmont Avenue between Robin and Cardinal lanes. One of the men, a 20-year-old, was shot three times in the left arm and twice in the back. The other, a 31-year-old man, was hit in the big toe.
