Former Neuqua Valley High School Teacher Charged With Trying to Lure Teen For Sex
The teacher was charged with trying to entice a teen to having sex with him while he was still working for the school.

A Neuqua Valley High School teacher was charged with trying to entice a teen to having sex with him.
John Desmond, 37, faces a felony grooming charge for attempting to “solicit, seduce, lure or entice a child under the age of 17 … to commit the offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court.
Desmond, a Darien resident, reached out to the teen through the Internet, the complaint said.

Desmond remains at large. The warrant for his arrest lists his place of employment as Neuqua Valley High School.
The Neuqua Valley website does not include Desmond among its faculty and staff. A call to Principal Robert McBride was not immediately returned.

Indian Prairie School District spokeswoman Janet Buglio said Desmond resigned in July and no longer teaches at Neuqua Valley. He committed his crime between May and July, according to the complaint.
The Neuqua Valley High School Theatre Department listed Desmond as the light and sound director for the 2015-2016 season. He taught 20th century literature at the Naperville high school in 2014, according to a course syllabus.
The warrant for Desmond’s arrest carries a $100,000 bond.
